Hempy is an innovative project dedicated to revitalizing hemp as a sustainable material for the textile industry by overcoming its key limitations such as stiffness, itchiness, and lack of flexibility or water resistance. Through state-of-the-art enzyme-based innovations, Hempy aims to make hemp a softer, more adaptable, and cost-effective alternative to cotton and synthetic fabrics, while also reducing the environmental impact of industries like fashion, packaging, construction, and medicine. The project represents the first DeSci-driven fashion initiative powered by both decentralized science and biotech research, positioning hemp as a stronger, greener, and more water-efficient material. Hempy's mission is backed by a major collaboration with researchers from the Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology (ACIB) and ValleyDAO, who are developing advanced enzyme technology to improve hemp's material properties and processing costs. At its core, Hempy combines sustainability, scientific innovation, and decentralized governance by tokenizing the intellectual property behind the research, enabling the community to directly participate in shaping the future of sustainable fashion and textiles.
