Overview

Cortex is a decentralized, open-source blockchain platform designed to enable the execution of artificial intelligence (AI) models directly on-chain, making it the first public blockchain capable of supporting decentralized AI inference. Built on a customized Ethereum Virtual Machine called the Cortex Virtual Machine (CVM), Cortex allows developers to integrate machine learning models into smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps). Its AI Inference Engine, known as Synapse, ensures deterministic outcomes across diverse hardware environments by executing complex AI models using GPUs. Cortex promotes an open ecosystem where AI researchers are incentivized to upload and share models via an on-chain marketplace, enabling dApp developers to access and implement advanced AI solutions seamlessly. ZkMatrix, its Layer 2 scalability solution, leverages zkRollup technology to aggregate transactions efficiently, offering high throughput while maintaining main chain security. Cortex also includes tools like Cortex Wallet for private transactions, and a reward system to compensate miners and contributors with its native token, CTXC. The platform's ultimate vision is to democratize AI by providing a transparent, tamper-proof, and globally accessible infrastructure that merges blockchain and AI at scale.
