Overview

Story is a peer-to-peer intellectual property (IP) network designed to revolutionize the creation, exchange, and monetization of ideas by eliminating reliance on centralized intermediaries. By embedding programmable terms into IP assets, Story enables creators to maintain control over how their work is used, monetized, and extended-whether by humans or AI agents-while ensuring fair attribution and revenue sharing across the network. The protocol introduces a universal, composable IP system where ownership and rights are transparently recorded and enforced on-chain, opening up opportunities for derivative works, licensing, fractional ownership, and innovative DeFi applications in a new domain called IPFi. Through the use of modules such as the Licensing Module, Royalty Module, and Dispute Module, creators can register, license, and enforce the terms of their IP directly. Additionally, Story supports the emergence of agentic commerce, where AI agents autonomously interact with IP assets, remixing or fine-tuning models, and sharing revenue with original IP holders through programmable royalty flows. With its modular, extensible architecture built on a Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism and enhanced by the Cosmos SDK and CometBFT, Story serves as the foundational settlement and negotiation layer for a fair, transparent, and scalable knowledge economy-enabling data providers, creators, and AI developers to collaborate meaningfully and sustainably.
